Peace Run
$25k Food Drive
Fire Fighter Appreciation
Recent fires have been devastating our California regions, displacing families and straining firefighters who have been working around the clock to control the flames. Our Community Outreach team spent weeks speaking to fire stations across the county to ask their needs and corresponding with California supermarkets and vendors to provide those needs. From pillows, coffee, water and handwritten letters, California Zion Church wants to thank our frontline workers who are keeping our communities safe and all our supermarket partners who donated items and stepped in to help.
Tujunga Tree Planting
In honor of Earth Week, our volunteers came together to plant trees in areas previously impacted by the wildfires that devastated LA earlier this year. Partnering with LA Works and Sunland-Tujunga Forward, we planted fire-resistant trees to aid in ecological restoration.
Long Beach Clean Up
In celebration of Earth Week, SCJ LA volunteers partnered with Justin Rudd’s Beach Clean-Up to care for creation and protect our local environment. Volunteers gathered in Long Beach to help remove trash, plastics, and debris from the shoreline, making a visible impact, honoring Earth Week with service and stewardship.
Alexandria House
In honor of Women’s History Month, the women’s department came together to support local women in need at Alexandria House in Los Angeles. Volunteers set up tables with donated essentials—hygiene products, toiletries, and food—offering them to at-risk mothers and other women in the community.
Santa Monica Firefighter Visit
The youth of SCJ LA visited Santa Monica Fire Department Station 1 to show heartfelt appreciation to the brave men on the frontlines of the devastating LA fires.
With oversized, hand-drawn thank-you cards, warm coffee, donuts, and cheerful hearts, the children came to uplift and encourage those who selflessly protect our communities.
Blood Donation to American Red Cross amidst national shortages
In the spirit of giving, church members spent Christmas Eve donating blood and collecting toys for children’s hospitals. As part of the county’s longest-running blood drive, CZC pledged to donate 1,000 pints of blood to the American Red Cross despite national shortages. Each donor also brought wrapped gifts, spreading hope and joy to children in need.
Food Drive Donation to at-risk seniors preparing for Hurricane Hilary (Esperanza)
Youth of California Zion Church Shincheonji expedited their food drive donation set for September, in order to provide food relief to at-risk seniors unable to gather groceries and food in the days leading up to Hurricane Hilary. The youth raised $5,831 of food donations from the local OC community totaling $20,000 towards the church’s $25k pledge to the communities of OC.
Hand-Print Memorial to Honor Uvalde School Shooting Victims
In honor of the Uvalde school shooting victims and World Blood Donor Day, we partnered with American Red Cross to host a blood drive, and created a handprint wall memorial to honor lives lost and inspire peace and compassion in our community.
Homemade Valentine’s Cards to Local Children’s Hospital
Our Children’s Department created homemade valentine’s cards for patients at Healthbridge Children’s Hospital in Orange. During the pandemic, with many patients left isolated in hospitals, our kids spread the love to their fellow children who needed uplifting by delivering 50 handwritten cards and a giant “love mail” card.
Thanksgiving Turkey Donation to Healthcare workers
To show our appreciation to our healthcare heroes during Thanksgiving, we donated turkeys and ham, as well as hand-written cards to the frontline workers.
Online Zumba to promote physical and spiritual wellness during pandemic
During the pandemic, the children’s department teachers organized a ‘Zion Fitness’ program, offering online Zumba sessions to promote both physical and spiritual wellness among local children. The virtual gatherings not only kept kids active, but also gave them a much-needed opportunity to reconnect with peers and ease the sense of isolation brought on by social distancing.
